Step
One: Shut off the main water supply. Tag the shut off valve so
that nobody turns the water back on while pipe is being repaired.
Step
Two: Once the water is off, with the jaws fully retracted insert
Riserench into the threaded fitting. Then tighten top handle by turning
clockwise until snug. With the Riserench in the pipe this will block
debris from falling into the main line. Any necessary digging will
be done with the Riserench in place.
Step
Three: Turn Riserench counter clockwise to remove threaded fitting
from main line tee. If the Riserench slips tighten top handle a quarter
turn, repeat if necessary until fitting is removed.
Step
Four: Once the broken fitting is removed from the main line turn
the Riserench over and insert into riser top. Tighten Riserench handle
to hold plastic fitting for removal of riser top, (Chain wrench is
recommended for removing riser top).
Step
Five: With all broken fittings removed, replace riser pipe with
a pre-assembled riser pipe (standard 3 inch fitting to fitting pipe).
Thread the riser top onto the pre-assembled riser pipe. Thread riser
onto main line pipe by hand, to assure that there is no cross-threading.
Tighten fittings with a chain wrench on riser top. This will tighten
all fittings from one
spot (presuming the glue is dry).
Step
Six: Back fill around riser by caving in the hole. Repack dirt
around riser. System should be ready to recharge. You're are back
in business, in minutes, not hours!
